Brass Barreled Blunderbuss
Joseph Buckmaster, London, England, mid-18th century

12 1/2 in. brass barrel with flaring muzzle, ring decorated breech, the left side with heart over "IB" barrel maker's stamp and London Company of Gunmakers proof marks; straight single-bridle lock with convex surface and double line border engraving, pointed tail, and engraved "BUCKMASTER" below the pan, the edge of the plate and both side nails with "IIII" assembly number; walnut stock with raised plateau around the breech plug tang; brass furniture including a butt plate with stepped and pointed tang, trigger guard with shaped finial, side plate with foliate engraving and iron sling swivel, and single ring decorated sheet brass rammer pipe; wood rammer with horn tip and iron jag at the end.
