Pair of New England Dragoon Pistols
Circa 1760s

9 7/8 in., .65 caliber round barrels with iron blade front sites, the breeches with foliate engraving, engraved "BARBAR" on the top, marked asterisk over "IB" for London gun maker James Barber, I, and the view and proof marks of the London Company of Gunmakers; double bridled, slightly convex lock with decorative border engraving and "BARBAR" below the pan, inside of lock plate with assembly number "X"; cherry stock with carved panels around the breech plug tang, lock mortice, and side plate, and a fruit wood butt cap; brass furniture including trigger guard with blunt finial, smooth side plate with pointed tail, ribbed sheet brass rammer pipe and brass entry sleeve; wood rammer, one with iron jag on the end.
