British Pattern 1738 Land Service Pistol
Circa 1747

12 in., .71 caliber round barrel with ring decoration at the breech, ordnance proof marks on the top of the barrel, the left side marked with partially legible barrel maker's marks and number "20"; double-bridle curved and convex lock plate with double line border engraving, the pointed tail engraved "FARMER/1747" and crown over "GR" below the pan, the inside of the lock plate with crown over "2" inspector's mark, two dot punches, and stamped "61"; walnut stock with raised carved plateau around the lock mortice and side plate, rammer channel with two sets of assembly numbers, the side plate mortice with two sets of assembly numbers and stamped "20"; brass furniture including a butt cap with long ears, trigger guard with acorn finial, convex side plate marked on the inside surface with a cast broad arrow and what appears to be two sets of assembly numbers, and cast brass barrel form rammer and entry pipes; later wood rammer with brass cap.
