Early French Dragoon Pistol
Saint-Etienne, France, c. 1700

15 1/2 in., .62 caliber octagon to round barrel with top flat extending to the muzzle, the left side marked "IEAN/[-----] and with a crowned orb mark, the breech with sculpted bands; curved single bridle lock wit convex surface marked on the tail "IMBER/GIRAVD" and in front of the convex cock with a fleur-de-lis over "BC," the inside marked with a symbol and "TOMA;" walnut stock with carved plateaus around the breech plug tang, lock mortice, side plate, trigger guard, and rammer channel; iron furniture including butt cap with long ears, trigger guard with pear and discus-type finial, convex scroll, disk, and leaf side plate, and barrel shaped rammer and entry pipes, later wood rammer with iron top.
