Cased Pair of English Flintlock Pocket Pistols
John Low Jackson, Nottingham, c. 1820s

1 1/4 in., .32 caliber round turn-off barrels, on brass box lock frames with sliding safety bolts, hidden triggers, the left side engraved "JACKSON" within an oval shield and panoply of arms behind, the other side engraved "NOTTINGHAM" within an oval shield and panoply of arms behind, the bottom of the locks with post-1813 Birmingham proof marks; walnut grips with flat sides, small silver diamond thumb pieces and checkered backs, overall lg. 4 3/4 in., housed in a walnut case with round plate on the lid, opening to a compartmented and blue velvet-lined interior with compartments holding a small copper flask marked "SYKES,: an ebony handled turn screw, a turned bone box, a turned bone bodkin, a ball mold marked "105," and a covered compartment with four lead shot.
