9 in., .58 caliber round barrel with ring decoration at the breech, struck with two sets of ordnance proof marks and two crown stamps on the top of the barrel, a worn crowned inspector's mark on the right side, and a crown over "4" inspector's mark on the end of the breech plug tang; straight double-bridle lock with double line border, pointed tail stamped "TOWER" and stamped crown over "GR" and with a crowned broad arrow government ownership mark below the pan, the inside marked "IS," "II," and with a crown over "4" inspector's mark, the screw bolster with two crescent marks, and assembly slash marks on the edge of the plate; walnut stock with trace of the raised plateau around the breech plug tang that is common to pattern 1801 and earlier sea service pistols, but absent on later suggesting that the stock was an earlier stock that was modified when this pistol was assembled, marked with broad arrow over "BO" to the rear of the lock plate mortice, two inspector's marks near the trigger guard, the side plate flat marked "IR" an with an asterisk-style mark, the inside of the side plate mortice marked "IS," an asterisk-style mark, crown over "P," and assembly number "XII," and in the rammer channel a trace of a crowned inspector's mark; brass furniture including a butt cap with short ears, trigger guard with acorn finial, flat side plate with scrolling leaf tail marked on the inside surface with two cast "X" marks and assembly number "XII," and a cast brass rammer entry pipe with internal retaining spring; steel belt hook marked on the tail with crown over "6" inspector's mark and "XII" assembly number on the inside; tapering steel rammer with flaring button head.
