English Basket Hilt Broadsword
Circa 1794

The iron lattice-style basket hilt with subtle line engraving on the front, low round pommel and ray skin covered grip with twisted brass wire wrapping; straight single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and one wide fuller,
Blade lg. 34 1/8, overall lg. 39 3/4 in.

Note
According to Brooker, hilts of this type were used by the 116th Foot (Perthshire Highlanders) who were raised in 1794 and disbanded in 1795.
