English Ordnance Basket Hilt Sword
Nathaniel Jefferies, Birmingham, England, c. 1760-70
The iron basket hilt with alternating wide and narrow panels, tall conical pommel, and iron wrapped wood grip; straight single-edge blade with false edge at the tip, marked crown over "IR/IEF/RIS" on one side and with same mark but incomplete on the other side; and crown government inspector's mark on the ricasso.
