English Cavalry Sword
Circa 1680-1700

Iron hilt with pierced bilobate counter-guard, down turned quillon, the guard with two narrow branches converging on a fine knuckle bow connecting to a slightly cylindrical ball pommel, grip wrapped in various sizes of twisted copper wire with Turk's heads; straight double-edge blade with central median ridge on both sides.
Blade lg. 31 3/8, overall lg. 37 1/2 in.

Brooker suggests that due to the sword's finer and lighter construction that it may have belonged to a sergeant.
