Le Dogular, the Zero Waste Kennel by Hopkins

Hopkins Architects are all dog lovers, and relished the opportunity to create a unique architecturally focused kennel for their canine companions. Their project began in 2019, with the centenary of the Bauhaus movement, which lead the team to consider: what would pioneers of modernism – like Le Corbusier - have created for their four-legged friends?

The 'Dogular' sets out the harmonic proportions and critical dimensions that underline the geometry of the kennel design, with elevation, privacy and comfort as the core principles. The form is bold and simple in line with the spirit of the age, while the zero-waste monocoque construction in plywood is affordable, lightweight and quick to assemble. Each Dogular can be personalised with colour to suit their occupant and setting. As Le Corbusier would have proclaimed, 'The kennel is a machine for living in.'
