A NEAR PAIR OF LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD, AMARANTH AND FRUITWOOD MARQUETRY AND PARQUETRY BOMBE COMMODES, ONE BEARING THE STAMP OF PIERRE-HARRY MEWESEN

Each with white-veined red (rance) shaped and moulded marble top, opening with two drawers sans traverse centred by a large medallion with foliate and floral sprays within a rocaille pierced ormolu encadrement, flanked by geometric shaped trellis ground with a further framing encadrement border, the sides conformingly inlaid with trellis motif, on cabriole legs headed by pierced foliate chutes centred by a cabochon and terminating with pierced foliate sabots, one commode stamped 'P.H.MEWESEN', minor differences to the mounts and in size, partly regilt and probably partly remounted, 146cm wide, 67.5cm deep, 89cm high (57in wide, 26 1/2in deep, 35in high). And 152cm wide, 64cm deep, 89cm high (60in wide, 25in deep, 35in high), respectively .
