A George II giltwood and gilt gesso girandole/mirror

Circa 1740
The later bevelled plate within a bead-and-reel slip, encompassed by a shallow-relief scrolled acanthus surround, within a foliate moulded frame with projecting angles, flanked by scroll corbels and tasselled husk pendant sides, below a scrolled foliate frieze centred with a flowerhead, surmounted by an acanthus clasped swan neck pediment, with a central scroll cartouche cresting, the shaped apron mounted with two detachable brass scrolled candle arms, re-gilt, 159cm high x 72cm wide.
