西藏 二十世紀 白度母唐卡
With the complexion of the autumn moon, White Tara offers her right hand in the gesture of charity while her left grips the stem of a flowering lotus. She bestows longevity on practitioners and remains widely popular in Tibet and China. This composition showing twenty further emanations of her is derived from the Twenty-One Praises of Tara said to have been spoken by the Buddha Samantabhadra. A related example of this composition is in the Rubin Museum of Art, New York (HAR 672). Two early-20th-century thangkas from the Tucci Collection share many stylistic elements (HAR 741 & 4143).
Provenance:
Private New England Collection, acquired in the 1970s
