CHARLES DICKENS' PICKLE FORK FROM GAD'S HILL.

A plated brass mechanical pickle fork belonging to Charles Dickens, monogrammed "CD," from Gad's Hill, 190 mm length, c.1860.
Provenance: Charles Dickens; Georgina Hogarth (his sister-in-law and housekeeper, autograph note of provenance, supplied in photocopy).

"I certify that this plated pickle fork was always used in the dining room at Gads Hill by my brother-in-law Charles Dickens from the time of his going there to live until his death 9 June 1970, and that it has thence been used by me—Georgina Hogarth."
