APOLLO COMMAND MODULE STOWAGE LOCKER A8
4-door metal alloy container, February 7, 1969, Approximately 850 x 520 x 160 mm, being part no V36-331064-401, marked on lower panel of one compartment, also marked SC 113, two Velcro squares to top left door exterior, marked "A8" on bottom right corner.
Provenance: Purchased as surplus by a North American Rockwell engineer.
Stowage locker A8 would have been in the Aft Bulkhead of the Command Module. "SC 113" may designate that this was part of Apollo 16's Command Module "Casper," but this, unfortunately, no longer has a scrap tag. A finely-constructed container with all four doors still functional, each with their two-finger pinch latch. Locker A8 would have held numerous essential parts of the mission including the toolset assembly, the EMU maintenance kit, the Constant Wear Garments, headsets, camera filters, 70mm Magazine Bag, voice recorder, etc. An evocative piece of Apollo-era hardware with wear that would lead one to the conclusion that it has been used.
