APOLLO 13
FRED HAISE'S ACTIVATION CHECKLIST USED BY HIM IN TRAINING
Apollo XIII LM-7 Activation Checklist. Houston: Manned Spacecraft Center, March 25, 1970.
203 x 154 mm, Original stiff printed wrappers, three-hole punched, affixed with two metal hinged rings, with several manuscript notes and corrections.
SIGNED & INSCRIBED by Fred Haise: "As used by me in training for our even(t)ful flight! / Fred Haise / Apollo 13 LMP."
NASA's third crewed mission to the Moon resulted in the heroic effort to return the crew safely after an oxygen tank explosion in the Service Module left the crew in a precarious position 210,000 miles from Earth. The Lunar Module became the crew's lifeboat and Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise's knowledge of the vehicle he gained in training, using manuals such as this, would have been essential.
