GAUMONT MOTION PICTURE CAMERA

35mm motion picture camera, Paris, Société des Établissements Gaumont, c.1906, wooden and metal body finished in black leather, 475 x 420 x 120, with pair of magazines, serial no 2092, with Zeiss Tessar 50mm f1:3.5, metal and wood crank handle.

Gaumont Film Company was founded in 1895 by Leon Gaumont originally to produce photographic equipment, but began producing motion picture cameras in 1897. The company produced short films to promote their equipment and has grown to become a major film studio that still exists.
