ANITA MK VIII CALCULATOR

Metal and plastic case, Uxbridge, England, Bell & Punch Co., c. 1961, full keyboard with 120 plastic keys, 12-digit numerical indicator tube display, 400 x 375 x 240 mm, 210 v AC, manufacturer's data plate on bottom panel (not serial numbered).
Provenance: From the estate of Serge Roubé.

One of the first electronic desk calculators, the Anita Mk VIII was developed by a team at the British Bell & Punch Company led by Norbert Kitz using vacuum tubes for its circuits. Kitz had previously been a part of the Pilot ACE project, a cut down version of Alan Turing's ACE stored memory computer.
