2 volumes. 8vo. Publisher's blue cloth, stamped in gilt.

FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY CUSHING on the front free endpaper: "Inscribed for Dr. Herman E. Pearse, Jr. with the best wishes of Harvey Cushing" Additionally inscribed below that by Pearse, to Ray Hinshaw. Herman E. Pearse, Jr. (1899-1983) graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1925, and was on the staff of Johns Hopkins Hospital before joining the faculty of Rochester Medical School. During World War II he joined the Manhattan Project to research the prevention and treatment of radiation burns from nuclear explosions. Cushing Bibliography 6.
