CUSHING, HARVEY WILLIAMS. 1869-1939.

Photograph Signed ("Harvey Cushing"), gelatin silver print, 145 x 95 mm image area, inscribed to Howard C. Naffziger and dated 1920 below signature in lower margin. Matted and framed.

Neurosurgeon Howard Christian Naffziger (1884-1961) was an assistant resident at Johns Hopkins in 1911-1912, working under Cushing. He was offered a position at Brigham Hospital in Boston when Cushing moved there from Johns Hopkins, but due to family obligations in his native San Francisco, Naffziger was unable to accept.
