FIRST EDITION, SIGNED AND INSCRIBED by Cushing on the front free endpaper: "Professor Borchardt, with the regards of Harvey Cushing. "The monograph was important for several reasons. It was the first detailed account that he had given of a special group of intracranial tumors other than the pituitary, and it also recorded the progress that had occurred in neurosurgical technique since 1908 when he wrote the monograph for W. W. Keen" (Garrison-Morton-Norman 4601). Cushing Bibliography 3; Fulton Harvey Cushing (1946) 410-411; Norman 550.
