Folio (315 x 212 mm). Engraved portrait, 16 engraved anatomical plates (one folding), two of which are printed in color (one in red, the other in green). Late 19th century quarter cloth and stiff wrappers, modern cloth clamshell box.
Provenance: Royal College of Physicians (stamps and bookplate marked "Withdrawn").

FIRST EDITION. Though William Stukeley was a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, he is generally known for his work as an antiquary who pioneered the archaeological investigations of Stonehenge and Avebury. Russell 784.
