3 volumes. 4to (238 x 184 mm). 63 (of 64) folding engraved plates, 2 folding letterpress tables outside collation. Contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt. Bound without plate XVIII in section XVIII, some leaves toned, bindings rubbed, joints cracked or tender.
Provenance: W.F. Sheppard, Trinity College [1863-1936] (ownership inscription to front free flyleaf); Otto Oren Fisher [1881-1961] (bookplate).
FIRST COLLECTED EDITION of Newton's mathematical, philosophical and philological treatises, "a fine piece of bookmaking" (Babson). The work is complete as published in three volumes, although eight were originally envisaged. Babson 9; Wallis 2.
