Manuscript Document Signed ("Will: Harvey") in Latin, being a warrant for medicines delivered to the King Charles I's "poore househould servants," 1 p, 4to (185 x 177 mm), April 7, [1637, translated "twelfth year of the Reign of Charles I"], mounted at the corners, reinforced to verso of upper corner, repaired tear through center; typed description at top of mount, with bookseller's pencil notations beneath.
Provenance: Purchased from Zeitlin & Ver Brugge Booksellers (printed description laid in).
RARE AUTOGRAPH OF WILLIAM HARVEY ON A WARRANT FOR PAYMENT FOR MEDICINES FOR THE KING'S HOUSEHOLD. Harvey served as Physician Extraordinary to James I, and continued to serve under Charles I upon his ascension in 1625. "Harvey's De motu cordis shares the honor as the greatest book in the history of medicine ... the cornerstone of modern physiology and medicine" (Garrison-Morton-Norman 759). See following lot 1012.
