A FINE NERIKAWA KABUTO

Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
The heavy bowl lacquered glossy black, with low profile swelling at the rear and with slight depression on the crown fitted with a brass chrysanthemum-form tehen kanamono, the thick mabizashi mounted with a gilt-brass haraidate-dai chiseled with scrolling vines, fitted with a three-lame manjū-style shikoro of lacquered leather scales, laced in blue leather in kebiki style with large fukigaeshi applied with printed leather and brass button-style crests
