A Large Shakudō Tsuba
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
Almost circular, the rim formed and chiseled as two wisteria blossoms, one of shakudō and the other of gold, the area within the two blossoms chiseled with waves; with a Tokubetsu Hozon Tōsōgu (Sword Fitting Especially Worthy of Preservation) certificate # 233989 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) dated February 10, 1999, and with a wood storage box (2)
