A BLACK-LACQUER SUIT OF ARMOR

Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
Laced in blue with orange highlights comprising a zunari (head shaped) kabuto lacquered russet brown with a four-lame Hineno jikoro, the gilt bronze maedate formed as a praying mantis, signed under the wing Myōchin Masazumi saku; the Ryūbu menpō with standing ridges on the cheeks and fitted with a four-lame solid-plate yodarekake; the yokohagi okegawa dangae dō with a medial ridge and laced in kebiki style in the lower section, fitted with seven sections of five-lame kusazuri, the lowers lame trimmed with boar's fur, now much lost; shinogote with chainmail upper arms; Iyo haidate; shino suneate; with one armor stand and one armor box
