A SUIT OF ARMOR WITH A NUINOBE DŌ

Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
The components lacquered black and laced in dark blue with a russet-iron 22-plate suji kabuto finished with igaki, fukurin, and a four-stage tehen kanamono, the five-lame Hineno jikoro finishing in small fukigaeshi, the mabizashi set off by a maedate fashioned from the antlers of a deer; the Ryūbu menpō with a hinged nose plate, red-lacquer lips and fitted with a four-lame yodarekake; the cuirass a nuinobe dō with seven sections of five-lame kusazuri, the lowest lame adorned with animal fur; the chū-sode above shinogote; with Etchū haidate and shino-suneate; with an armor stand and one armor storage box
