A BLACK-LACQUER SUIT OF ARMOR

Edo period (1615-1868), 18th century
Laced in blue with white highlights, comprising a momonari (peach-shaped) kabuto lacquered black and fitted with a four-lame Hineno shikoro, the gilt-brass maedate formed as a circular heraldic crest, possibly of the Kato clan; the menpō lacquered russet brown with a removable nose plate and gilt teeth; the cuirass a dangae dō, the upper section laced in hishinui toji style and the lower section laced in kebiki style, fitted with seven sections of five-lame kusazuri, the lowest lame trimmed in boar's fur; the chainmail kote of twisted wire rings assembled in the four-in-one style; iron Etchū haidate; shino-suneate; with one armor stand and one storage box
