A RUSSET LACQUER IRON MENPŌ

Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century
Forged in two sections with a removable nose plate and applied with a mustache and imperial goatee, the mask lacquered russet brown with an ishime finish, bent anchoring posts below the cheek ridge, the lips lacquered red and the teeth gold, the interior red-lacquer, the four-lame yodarekake lacquered in a rough texture and laced in green and tri-color lacing
5 7/8in (14.9cm) high, excluding throat defense
