An Ise Tantō with Fine Dragon Mounts
Meiji era (1868-1912), dated 1871
Sugata (configuration): hirazukuri, iorimune
Kitae (forging pattern): tightly packed itame hada in jinie
Hamon (tempering pattern): gunome midare with nie, nioi, ashi, saka-ashi, sunagashi, kinsuji, and mune-yaki
Bōshi (tip): komaru
Horimono (carving): a coiling dragon on a Buddhist ken on the omote side; gomabashi on the ura side
Nakago (tang): ubu with keshō file marks, signed Kusanagi Shizumasa Fusanaga and dated Meiji sannen hachigatsu no hi (A day in the eighth month of 1871)
Habaki (collar): one-piece, silver
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 11in (27.9cm)

The aikuchi goshira-e comprising a black-lacquer saya applied with a coiling dragon in silver, the details carved in relief, the mount fitted with a matching set of silver kojiri and fuchi-gashira carved in relief with crashing waves, the kozuka handle with a dragon in high relief on a nanako ground, signed on the reverse Etchū no jū Yasukawa Masakiyo and with a kaō, the
tsuka wrapped in plain white same and fitted with silver menuki formed as crashing waves
