A Dai-shō Pair of Swords in Mounts
Muromachi period (1333-1573), 15th and 16th century
Katana
Sugata (configuration): honzujuri, iorimune, chūgissaki, koshizori
Kitae (forging pattern): flowing itame hada in jinie
Hamon (tempering pattern): suguha mixed with kogunome in nie and nio with sunagashi and kinsuji
Bōshi (tip): komaru, hakikake
Horimono (carving): bōhi carved on both sides
Nakago (tang): ubu, slightly machi-okuri, with three holes (two very close together), kiri file marks, and signed Kuniyuki
Habaki (collar): one-piece, copper
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 24 1/4in (61.6cm)

The koshira-e comprising a red-lacquer saya mounted with matching iron kojiri and semegane, the tsuka wrapped in blue silk over same and fitted with fuchi-gashira and menuki, and an iron openwork tsuba

With a wood storage box with an inscription stating the blades were in the collection of the Hirata family, the interior with a origami attestation and inscription written by Hon'ami Kōryō and dated 1935
