Footnotes

Tsuguhira was originally from Echizen, but moved to Edo to train under the 3rd generation Yasutsugu. His style bears a strong resemblance to 3rd generation Yasutsugu, especially in wakizashi as he used so-called "Namban steel". The administration date of each of these two swords is the same, so we can say that these two are undoubtedly a true dai-sho pair, including their koshira-e with their carefully matched fittings.
