KOREKAZU (ACTIVE 1673-1688)

A Musashi Wakizashi
Edo period (1615-1868), 17th century
The broad blade with honzukuri, iorimune configuration with a chūgissaki and toriizori curvature, forged in running itame hada with a flamboyant gunome chōji midare tempered edge based in nie with ashi, saka-ashi, yō, sunagashi, and yakidashi, with a midarekomi bōshi, 18 1/2in (46.9cm) long, 1 1/4in (3.1cm) wide at the hamachi and 1in (2.5cm) wide at the yokote, with a two-piece gilt-copper habaki, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard
