Muromachi period (1333-1573), 16th century
The broad blade of honzukuri, iorimune, chūgissaki configuration forged in a tight itame hada, the tempered edge notare-gunome in nie with a midarekomi ko-aru bōshi, Sōshū-style slightly funagata tang with two holes, indistinct file marks and inscribed Sōshū no jū Tsunahiro, 17 5/8in (44.8cm) long, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard
