Sugata (configuration):honzukuri, iorimune, chūgissaki, toriizori
Kitae (forging pattern): nashiji hada
Hamon (tempering pattern): suguha in jinie
Bōshi (tip): komaru with a slight return
Horimono (carving): bōhi on both sides
Nakago (tang): suriage with katte sagari file marks, two holes, and signed Taira Nagamori
Habaki (collar): one-piece, gilt-foil
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 21 3/8in (54.3cm)
Motohaba (width at start of tempered edge): 1 1/8in (2.8cm)
Sakihaba (width before tip): 7/8in (2.2cm)
In a shirasaya (wood storage scabbard) with an attestation by Sato Kanzan
The koshira-e comprising a red lacquered saya with a shakudō kojiri chiseled with waves and decorated with paulownia heraldic crest, the kurikata carved in sunken relief with a foreign figure, the tsuka fitted with gold and shakudō menuki formed as samurai in boats; shakudō and gold fuchi-gashira with warriors, signed Mito no jū Tsuju saku, the Waki Gotō shakudō nanako-ji kiri-sukashi tsuba decorated with paulownia crests, Ko-Kaga kozuka with maple leaves on water in gold overlays against a shakudō migaki-ji ground, and a shakudō and gold kogai decorated with Sotoba and a bridge, signed Gotō Mitsuhiro (Goto Zejo 1788-1856)
