A BINGO KOTŌ WAKIZASHI WITH MOUNTS

Muromachi period (1333-1573), 16th century
Of shobuzukuri, iorimune configuration forged in mokume hada and with a suguha and yakizumi tempered edge, the ubu tang with two holes and kiri file marks, with a one-piece copper habaki, 14 3/8in (36.5cm) long, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard
The koshira-e comprising a reddish brown saya fitted with a Gotō-school shakudō nanako-ji kozuka decorated with Fugen and an elephant in iro-e takazōgan, the tsuka wrapped in green silk and fitted with shakudō nanako-ji fuchi-gashira decorated with the Seven Gods of Good Fortune, and gilt menuki formed as Hotei, the shakudō migaki-ji plate tsuba decorated with the crests of the Shimazu family in gold takazōgan
With a kantei certificate # 5818, issued by the Nihon Token Hozon Kai (Japanese Sword Preservation Society) (NPO), dated September 14, 2014
