A KOTŌ WAKIZASHI

Nanbokuchō period (1333-1392), 14th century
Shōbuzukuri configuration forged in ō-itame hada approaching ayasugi hada based in jinie, the shinogi showing masame hada, the tempered edge narrow suguha of nioi ending in a komaru bōshi, the ōsuriage tang with two holes (one plugged), one-piece habaki, 18 3/4in (48cm) long, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard

The old registration document that accompanied this sword attributes the work to Jitsua who was thought to be a student of Sairen in Chikuzen Province, active around the end of the Kamakura period.
