Muromachi period (1333-1573), dated 1439
Slender honzukuri, iorimune configuration with a kogissaki and koshizori curvature, forged in running itame hada, the tempered edge chōji midare based in nie with ashi, yō, sunagashi, kinsuji, utsuri, and some tobiaki, the bōshi komaru, the ōsuriage tang with three holes (two very close together), signed Bishū Osafune Morokage, and dated Eikyō jūichinen jūnigatsu, with a two-piece copper habaki, 21 1/2in (54.6cm) long, in a wood shirasaya storage scabbard
With a Hozon Tōken (Sword Worthy of Preservation) certificate # 357137 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (The Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword), dated May 2, 2012
