A 32-PLATE SUJI KABUTO WITH A LARGE SHISHI LION DECORATIVE PLATE

Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century
The helmet forged in russet iron and finished with a four-stage chrysanthemum-form gilt, copper, and shakudō tehen kanamono, the four-lame iron shikoro lacquered black, terminating in large fukigaeshi finished with rope-rim and applied with a gilt-brass heraldic crests with water plantains, the front of the helmet applied with a large shishi lion face decorated in gold, black, silver, and red lacquer
