Three Kozuka
Edo period (1615-1868), 17th to 18th century
All shibuichi (copper-silver alloy), the first punched with nanako granulation, chiseled and inlaid in gold and silver relief with a hawk on a stand; with a Hozon Tōsōgu (Sword Fitting Worthy of Preservation) certificate # 4014619 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) dated November 16, 2001 and identifying the piece as Kyō-kinkō type; the second with kebori (hairline chiseling) representing flowing water, with three applied gold, shakudō (copper-gold) alloy, and silver seashells, the reverse shibuichi and gold separated by a diagonal line, signed Gotō Junjō with a kaō (cursive monogram); with a Hozon Tōsōgu (Sword Fitting Worthy of Preservation) certificate # 431922 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) dated August 9, 1996; the third chiseled and inlaid in gold, silver, and shakudō relief depicting the Chinese poet Rihaku (in Chinese, Li Bai), the reverse chiseled with a version of a famous poem "Even after gallons of wine Li Bai could compose a hundred poems ...," signed Naoyuki with a kaō (cursive monogram); each with a wood storage box (6)
