GOTŌ KENJŌ (1586-1663) AND MITSUYOSHI

A Mitokoromono (Set of Three Sword Fittings)
Momoyama (1573-1615) to Edo (1615-1868) period, 17th to 19th century
Comprising a set of menuki (hilt grips), a kozuka (knife handle), and a kōgai (skewer), all of shakudō (copper-gilt alloy) and gold with nekogaki (striated) finish, the decoration of shakudō with gold and silver inlay depicting sōshi booklets, some open, some closed, some with title slips, the kozuka inscribed and signed mon Kenjō and Mitsuyoshi, with an elaborate kaō (cursive monogram); with a Tokubetsu Hozon Tōsōgu (Sword Fitting Especially Worthy of Preservation) certificate # 2004347 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) dated December 7, 2017, and with a wood storage box (4)
