A Shakudō Tsuba
Edo period (1615-1868), late 18th/early 19th century
Rounded square, the surface worked with an ishime-ji (stone) texture, chiseled in relief and with two tones of gold and silver depicting hagi (bush clover) by a stream beneath the autumn moon; with a Hozon Tōsōgu (Sword Fitting Worthy of Preservation) certificate # 458562 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Art Sword) dated June 26, 2009, and with a wood storage box (2)
