Hand-colored map heightened in gold, 445 x 550 mm, framed. Later hand-coloring over early, centerfold repair and reinforcement, repaired tear near Antarctic Circle in right hemisphere, two tiny wormholes in lower portion below hemispheres, generous margins, no text on verso.

Elaborate double-hemisphere world map featuring California as an Island from Goos' marine atlas, Zee-Atlas, considered by Shirley "to be among the finest printed at the time." The spandrels fully decorated with the top portion centered with the sun emerging from clouds, its beams pushing forcefully in all directions, a flock of birds fills the remaining space, two cartouches, one Latin surrounded by 2 eagles, the other in Dutch surrounded by 4 fish, the lower portion with a group of figures representing the four seasons, the 2 sides containing heads of four winds among clouds, north and south poles in lower corners.
