ARCHAEOLOGY: EGYPT.

Photo album relating to the excavation of the tomb of Tutankhamun, c. 1922-1930, oblong 4to, with 30 gelatin silver prints, 82 x 133 mm, mounted on 8 leaves (with 5 leaves left blank), contemporary brown cloth binding, profusely stamped with the retailer's stamp of K.S. Diradour, Cairo. Spine perished, soiling to covers, some oxidation of images, leaves slightly warped, light spotting.

Contemporary images of the removal of artefacts from Tutankhamen's tomb, taken outside of the tomb as workers brought them to the surface and carried them away. Howard Carter appears in 3 photos, including one of the members of the excavation party at a table set up inside an entry corridor, and an image of Carter, Lord Carnarvon, and his daughter Lady Evelyn Herbert, posing with an Egyptian official.
