PRESENTATION SWORD GIFTED TO HAWAIIAN NATIONAL GUARD BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN H. SOPER.

M.C. Lilley & Company, Columbus, Ohio, c.1907.
The elaborate gilded hilt with openwork counter-guard, the outboard panel with spread wing eagle against flags within a foliate scroll border, the hinged inboard panel with central "US" device against oak and olive branches and scroll border, foliate quillon and knuckle bow connecting to a foliate pommel with round capstan, ray skin covered grip with twisted brass wire wrapping; straight double-edge blade with etched foliate scroll, lattice, flag, and shield decoration with large "U.S." in the center and gilded reserve, the ricasso marked "MADE BY / THE / M.C. LILLEY / & CO / COLUMBUS, / OHIO, / U.S.A."; nickel-plated steel scabbard with gilded brass mounts, and cloth case.
Blade length 764 mm, overall length 976 mm.

Soper was gifted this presentation sword upon his retirement as Brigadier General from the Hawaiian National Guard.
