Descriptionis Ptolemaicae augmentum, sive Occidentis notitia brevi commentario illustrata. Louvain: Jan Bogaert, 1597.
Folio (283 x 184 mm). Engraved title and 19 engraved folding maps. Late 19th/early 20th century mottled calf, red gilt-lettered spine label. Title, dedication and maps only, without text leaves, title and dedication toned and with fore-edge margin shorter than maps, world map trimmed close to neatline, centerfold reinforced, Atlas figure censored, maps generally clean, but with mild stain in centerfold, dampstain to lower cover.

"In the history of early cartography, the maps in Wytfliet's Augmentum play the same part for the New World as Ptolemy's do for the old hemisphere, and they give us . . . a valuable summary of the early cartography of America " (Nordenskiöld. Facsimile-atlas to the Early History of Cartography).
