FIRST APPEARANCE IN PRINT OF SIGUENZA Y GONGORA'S IMPORTANT "MOTHER MAP" OF MEXICO, PRINTED BY AN IMPORTANT EARLY WOMAN PRINTER, a book "of the utmost typographical and historical importance" (Stevens Historical Nuggets I: 792). Flooding in the valley of Mexico was central to the development and habitation of Mexico since the Aztecs. This work represents a compendious attempt to collect the various reports, surveys, maps and charts that collects the history, including the first printing of Carlos de Siguenza y Gongora's important map of the valley of Mexico, highlighting its drainage.

The work is printed by Viuda de D. Joseph Bernardo de Hogal, Rosa Teresa Poveda, who took over her husband's illustrious press upon his death in 1741 and managed it until her death in 1755. Under her direction, the press, referred to as the "Ibarra of Mexico," produced many of its most important works. Medina Mexico 2887; Palau 66220; Sabin 27848.
