Footnotes
Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps), was David Bowie's 14th studio album, released in September 1980 by RCA records. The record attracted critical acclaim and was also a much-needed commercial success for Bowie, reaching No. 1 and No. 12 in the UK and US album charts respectively.
Scary Monsters is considered one of Bowie's most important projects, his final studio album for RCA and marking his last collaboration with influential producer Tony Visconti for over 20 years. It also marked photographer Duffy's final shoot with Bowie after their collaborations for a number of years on other albums, notably Aladdin Sane - the contact sheet from the shoot, this edition signed by Bowie, also offered elsewhere in the sale. By this time, Duffy had retired from stills photography but David lured him back into the studio. Bowie's striking costume is by Natasha Korniloff, with make-up by Richard Sharah.
