Two years before Only Watch 2009, Montblanc (owned by Richemont) purchased the manufacture Minerva located in Villeret, known for their chronographs. With the Nicolas Rieussec chronograph, the brand has brought one of the most unique chronograph concepts and applied it a line named after the watchmaker. While not containing the ink-filled hands that were originally conceived by Rieussec, the chronograph does retain the rotating barrels for the chronograph and constant seconds register with fixed hands. The watch also remains a practical instrument with an impressive 72 hour power reserve displayed on the back of the watch, and a quick set function for the hour for travel into different time zones.
